How about earrings this time??

We're baaaack! Ready to look at some more awesome (or not so awesome) jewelry. While out last post was all about diamond rings, we're going to look at some diamond earrings. To start off with, here are some diamond earrings from Macy's (link).

These star earrings are pretty cool.  Stars are cool and with these on, you'll feel like a star. I mean, I think you'll feel like a star, why wouldn't you? Would that just be silly? Oh well. They're pretty cool anyway, and at $250, they're not super expensive and they're not cheap either.

Our grade: B+

These are nice. The flower design is nice, and it's somewhat affordable too at $700. Nothing much else to say about this either, because they're just nice. So without saying nice one more time (oops) we'll get to the grade:

Our grade: A-

1/2 carat diamond stud earring, certified colorless. Hmm. Well, we're guessing that the certified colorless part means that it the diamonds have a color grade of D, which is completely colorless and the highest color grade. It's also usually not worth the extra price though, because D grade diamonds come at a premium. At $1,600 it's a little overpriced. You're paying for the D-grade diamonds, which aren't really worth the extra money. You can easily get by with a E-G or even H diamond for less money.

Our grade: C-

OK, what is going on here?? As you can see, this is a pair of diamond earrings, 2 carats in total, which would 1 carat for each earring. The price is $4,700, which would seem a little low for earrings like this. Why is the price low? Because they use awful diamonds! It says that the diamonds are I2-I3 clarity, which is the WORST clarity grade possible. This means that the diamonds have easily visible inclusions. Looking at the reviews, it confirms this. That makes us think, who would actually these, when it clearly states the clarity grade, which also explains the price. Guess they were looking for a bargain (and Macy's is the wrong place to look for a bargain!!).

Our grade: F

If you're looking for some big diamond earrings, these are a much better bet than the last ones. They have a much better quality diamond although a little smaller but a lot more expensive. The clarity is VS2 and color is G-H. Why don't they include the cut grade? That's kind of dumb (maybe the cut isn't great, which would suck). They cost a mere $16,700, which is still overpriced for two .75 carat diamonds which might not even have a good cut grade.

Our grade: C

These earrings have a cool twist design and it's made with 14k yellow gold and .5 carats worth of diamonds. It looks great and the price isn't too bad. Ready for our grade?

Our grade: B

These diamond knot earrings look pretty cool. They have 1 carats worth of diamonds in total and they would look awesome on our ears. They cost $1,800, which is a little bit overpriced (notice the overpriced theme here?? this is Macys!) but not too bad.

Our grade: B-

Ok well that's it (though we could go on....). We'll save more for later. Out!
